Veteran actress Susan Sarandon is the newest addition to the cast of “Ray Donovan” Season 5.
In the Showtime series, Sarandon will give life to the character of a legendary media mogul named Samantha Winslow. According to the network’s description, Samantha will set Ray (Liev Schreiber) against her own fixers in fear that they may know a little too much.
Sarandon will be a series regular in the upcoming season of “Ray Donovan,” and new episodes will kick off this August.

Showtime also dropped a two-minute teaser for Season 5, which opens with a woman asking Ray what exactly is it that he does. The lead character responds by saying that he works for people like her. When the female character pried further, Ray says that he could be her go-to-guy when things go wrong.
In another scene, Samantha has a conversation with Ray, and she tells him that when someone brings him into his or her problem, he tends to be very discreet. By the looks of it, the former will hire the latter’s services. Samantha adds that whatever Ray’s fees are, she will pay them.
Elsewhere, Ray’s daughter, Bridget (Kerris Dorsey), is in the bathtub with a guy. She tells him that her dad is a dangerous man because he could do bad things if they don’t do what he wants them to do. The rest of the clip shows the kind of struggles Ray will face throughout the entire season. But during another conversation with Samantha, she reminds him to find something that he loves the most and let it kill him.
“Ray Donovan” Season 5 also stars Paula Malcomson as Abby, Eddie Marsan as Terry, Dash Mihok as Bunchy, Steven Bauer as Avi, Katherine Moennig as Lena, Pooch Hall as Daryll and Devon Bagby as Conor. According to Deadline, additional guest stars who have been confirmed to appear in the upcoming episodes include Brian White, Dominique Columbus, Adina Porter, C. Thomas Howell, Rhys Coiro, Tara Buck and Lili Simmons.
“Ray Donovan” is executive produced by David Hollander, Mark Gordon, Bryan Zuriff and Lou Fusaro. The series is created by Ann Biderman and will premiere on Aug. 6 at 9 p.m. EDT.
