'Sword Art Online: Hollow Realization' Coming To The West In 2016
Bandai Namco have confirmed that “Sword Art Online: Hollow Realization” would be coming to the US sometime in 2016. The Japanese roleplaying game (RPG) is the follow up to this year’s “Sword Art Online: Lost Song” and will be coming to the PlayStation 4, along with the PlayStation Vita.
The game’s official press release has confirmed that Reki Kawahara will be working with the development team, much like he did in “Lost Song.” Kawahara is the creator of the “Sword Art Online” series, which has proven to be very popular in both manga and anime form.
Obviously, the popularity has branched off into video game form as well. This isn’t too much of a surprise, since “Sword Art Online” is about online video games and the people who are into them.
Players will be taking the role of Kirito, as the character enters a new world called “Sword Art: Origin.” This world was made on the original game’s servers and will apparently be the basis for a new storyline, along with a number of new quests for the players to partake in.
The popularity of “Sword Art Online” is one of the main reasons why the game was brought stateside. The series has proven to be one of the most popular anime series’ of the year and it doesn’t seem like the popularity is going to stop anytime soon.
As far as gameplay features go, an article from RPG News has stated that the game will feature “intense and strategic” gameplay, which will be mixed with action elements. The previous game also did this, mixing combat from an action RPG with the ability to fight while flying, which was its best feature according to many critics.
Characters like the aforementioned Kirito, will be joined by other fan favorites like Leafa and Asuna, along with others who haven’t been confirmed yet. There will also be a character exclusive to the game, though his or her name hasn’t yet been confirmed.
No official release date has been given for “Sword Art Online: Hollow Realization,” though it will be coming out on 2016. Fans are going to have to wait a while for an official release date or a release window.
