‘The Table Doesn’t Lie,’ Manchester United Superstar Warns Ole Gunnar Solskjaer About Red Devils’ Current Biggest Weakness
Manchester United superstar Roy Keane has identified the Red Devils’ current weakness and has warned club boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer about it.
By defeating Norwich 2-1 in the FA Cup, Man Utd have extended their unbeaten streak to 14 games and that has set their semi-final clash against Chelsea. In the 2019-20 season, Man Utd have a brilliant head to head record against their main rivals Manchester City and Chelsea, winning home and away against them in the Premier League.
Nevertheless, they are still placed fifth in the Premier League and as it currently stands, Solskjaer's side will not qualify for the next campaign’s Champions League. Pointing that out, former Man Utd midfielder Keane has warned Solskjaer and Co. not to get carried away with their current form and they need to strengthen their defense ahead of the next season.
“They’re a few players off yet. They have obviously strengthened but the table doesn’t lie. Look at their points in total. I know people say they’ve had one or two decent results – against Man City and Liverpool – but it’s all about the point. They haven’t been consistent enough."
"They will certainly be pushing to get that fourth position but trying to get fourth and winning the league is a big leap. They need one or two players. I think United are short at the back. So, no, I don’t see United competing in the next year or two for the league. I think there’s going to be an improvement and they will close the gap, but there is a bit of work to be done for Ole and the players. They’re missing something,” Keane, who ended his professional career at Scotland’s Celtic, told the Irish Independent.
Solskjaer is eager to improve the attacking department in his current squad and which is why he is adamant about signing Dortmund’s promising midfielder Jadon Sancho. Apart from the Englishman, Man Utd are also chasing the likes of Aston Villa captain Jack Grealish and Birmingham wonderkid Jude Bellingham, who unfortunately is expected to reject the Old Trafford side to join Dortmund.
