'Hunger Games' Movie: Rue Fans Tweet Back Against Racism Online

Some Games fans, infuriated that some characters from the series were played by black actors, took to Twitter to post a series of virulent and increasingly racist comments against 13-year-old Amandla Stenberg (playing Rue). Other fans, however, are now taking to the same site to mock the original posters and defend the actress from the slurs being hurled at her.

Mississippi Pardons: Barbour's Act Has Racial Overtones, Says Study

The grant of clemency to a number of convicts, by former Mississippi Governor Haley Barbour, was met with a barrage of strong criticism against such actions. A recent study by Reuters points to the possibility of racism in the Governor's action. Barbour's decision to pardon or commute the prison sentences of more than 200 convicts surprised many; primarily because the number was enormous, compared to pardons granted by his immediate predecessors.
