Bryan Mills’ (Clive Standen) boss Christina Hart (Jennifer Beals) gets alarming news in Season 1, episode 3 of “Taken.”

In a sneak peek from next week’s episode of the NBC series, Christina pays her doctor a visit to know the results of her brain scan, which she underwent after she and Clara Ward (Claire Rankin) were attacked by William Davis in the last episode. Christina’s doctor says that everything is fine except for a mass seen in her brain.

“[You] probably [have] mild concussion,” the doctor says. “Some swelling from the frontal lobe, which is to be expected, but this is a bit of a surprised.” When Christina asks what the doctor is pointing at the result of her brain scan, the doctor replies: “A mass. Roughly a size of a small grape.”

Christina is alarmed by the news, as the mass could be a tumor. Her doctor, however, tells her that the clearly defined edge of the mass “usually means it’s benign.” “Many people live their whole lives with grapes in their brains and never even know it,” the doctor says. “We’ll do a biopsy, of course. Just try not to worry.”

Before Christina leaves, her doctor asks her to fill up a form asking for her emergency contact, and it appears that she had not been able to provide the said information that very moment.

In another sneak peek from next week’s installment, Christina surprisingly asks Harry Ward (Dominic Fumusa) — the widower of her late friend Clara — to be her emergency contact.

“I don’t know who else to ask,” Christina tells Harry.

“Whatever you need,” Harry replies as he caresses her hand. “No questions asked. Because honestly, I don’t think I could bear losing you, too.”

The intimacy between Christina and Harry is quite surprising. Although they appear to have known each for a long time before, it’s unclear whether the two have romantic feelings for each other.

Meanwhile, as revealed in the synopsis for the episode, Bryan and the team try to locate an abducted suspected terrorist — a mission which leads them to discover a deeper plot within their own government.

As for Bryan’s personal life, his late sister’s best friend, Asha (Brooklyn Sudano), expresses concern about his fixation with Carlos Mejia (Romano Orzari). The preview clip for the episode also shows Bryan and Asha cuddling in bed together. Does this mean that their platonic relationship has turned romantic?

“Taken” Season 1, episode 3, titled “Off Side,” airs on Monday, March 13 at 10 p.m. EST on NBC. Watch the sneak peeks and the preview clip for the episode below:
