Argh, matey! Saturday marks the annual celebration of Talk Like a Pirate Day. In honor of the 2015 swashbuckling date, participants who talk like and wear their best pirate attire will be gifted free food from Krispy Kreme. Want to find out how to secure your own freebies? It’s easy!

Any customer who walks into a participating Krispy Kreme location on Saturday, Sept. 19, and talks like a pirate will receive a free Original Glazed doughnut. But for doughnut fans looking to get more out of the annual celebration, consider donning your best pirate gear to get an even better offer. Patrons wearing three or more pirate-themed costumes accessories will receive one dozen Original Glazed doughnuts – free of charge!

"International Talk Like a Pirate Day has become one of the biggest days of the year at Krispy Kreme,” Dwayne Chambers, Chief Marketing Officer, said of the upcoming event in a press release. “It’s a fun and unique way for us to share the joy of Krispy Kreme, which of course includes free Original Glazed doughnuts for all the buccaneers out there.”

So, what constitutes as appropriate pirate gear? Qualifying items include, but are not limited to, an eye patch, pirate hat, bandana, leather belt, silver/gold necklaces and earrings and a pirate hook. If you’re really dedicated, consider trying out the restaurant’s most interesting suggested costume accessory: a peg leg. Please note, weapons are not allowed. If you’re craving more than a dozen doughnuts, considering splurging on a Pirate Doughnut. The limited “Kreme” filled dessert is topped with white icing and retails for $1.29. If you get thirsty after enjoying your Talk Like A Pirate Day freebies, the restaurant chain will also be selling 24-ounce, reusable pirate cups for $1.99. If you’re more of a warm beverage drinker, ceramic pirate mugs will be on sale for $6.99.
