Tampa Bay Buccaneers News: Tom Brady Has Little To Say After Upset Loss Against Washington
Tom Brady wasn't in a very talkative mood Sunday afternoon. Following the Tampa Bay Buccaneers' 29-19 loss against the Washington Football Team, the quarterback didn't stick around very long in his post-game press conference.
Brady spoke with reporters for less than two minutes, giving only brief answers about the defeat. The quarterback told the press to “make it quick” when he stepped up to the podium, and he nearly walked away within a minute before being asked to stick around for a little bit longer.
“Not a great day of football for us,” Brady said. “Doesn't matter who you play if you have a bunch of self-inflicted errors.”
Brady completed 23 of 34 passes for 220 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions. It marked his second-fewest passing yards of the season, and Brady’s 80.5 passer rating was also his second-lowest for any game in 2021.
“We started with the ball and they came away with it,” Brady said when asked about his turnovers.
The Buccaneers suffered the biggest upset on Sunday’s schedule, losing as 9.5-point favorites. Washington entered the matchup with a 2-6 record, having only beaten a pair of sub-.500 teams by five total points.
Brady has thrown multiple interceptions in two straight games. Prior to their Week 9 bye, the Bucs lost to the New Orleans Saints 36-27 in Week 8.
Tampa Bay hasn’t won since defeating the Chicago Bears on Oct. 24. The Bucs have dropped to the No. 4 seed in the NFC. Still the overwhelming favorite in the NFC South, Tampa Bay has a one-game lead over the New Orleans Saints in the division.
Injuries are taking their toll on the defending Super Bowl champs. Antonio Brown and Rob Gronkowski have missed multiple games with injuries. Most of Tampa Bay’s starting secondary has been hurt for the majority of the season.
Brady leads all quarterbacks with 318.9 passing yards per game and 27 touchdowns.
Tampa Bay hosts the New York Giants on "Monday Night Football" in Week 11. The Bucs opened as heavy favorites to beat the Giants.
