Pop singer Taylor Swift is no beginner when it comes to Easter eggs, usually spreading them among her songs, videos, and lyrics for her fans to find and theorize. Here's one thing fans won't have to go searching for, though: Taylor's thoughts on politics.
ETonline reports that Swift confirms that, in an interview with RTL, a German outlet, her political outspokenness will continue on her upcoming seventh studio album. "I definitely think there are political undertones in the new music I made," the country artist turned pop said, according to translations from multiple outlets.
"I’m not planning to stop encouraging young people to vote and to try to get them to talk about what’s going on in our country. I think that’s one of the most important things I could do."
The 29-year-old "ME" singer previously refrained from making political statements but opened up about the topic for the first time in October 2018 just before the midterm elections. Swift took to social media, specifically Instagram, to post a lengthy but passionate message about voting, writing at the time, "I’m writing this post about the upcoming midterm elections on November 6th, in which I’ll be voting in the state of Tennessee. In the past I’ve been reluctant to publicly voice my political opinions, but due to several events in my life and in the world in the past two years, I feel very differently about that now.”
While, Swift hasn't released the date for her new album, fans can be sure that in true Taylor fashion, there will be hints galore leading up to its release.
