The "All Too Well: The Short Film" of Taylor Swift has been confirmed to be eligible for Academy Award consideration.
The Hollywood Reporter first broke the news that "All Too Well" could be considered for nomination for the best live-action short film, which is Swift's first foray into filmmaking. The short film, which the songstress personally wrote and directed, starred Dylan O'Brien and Sadie Sink.
It premiered to a group of exclusively invited fans on Nov. 12, 2021, at the AMC Lincoln Square in NYC. Taylor Swift's short film continued to screen through November 18.
For starters, there are three Oscar categories in total that recognize short films – defined as having a runtime of 40 minutes or less. While they do not receive much fanfare, there are some huge players vying for the accolade.
The Hollywood Reporter also suggested that Taylor Swift is already working with a "top consulting firm" to help create the "All Too Well" short film's campaign. Apart from Joe Alwyn's ladylove, the entertainment news outlet said Kendrick Lamar's "We Cry Together," a six-minute film, will be in the running for the best live-action short film award.
Taylor Swift, with one Emmy and 11 Grammys under her belt, is already halfway to the coveted EGOT accomplishment, which only 17 people have ever achieved. The Hollywood Reporter said she might even have two chances to add to "O" since her "Carolina" track, featured in "Where the Crawdads Sing," is also generating Oscar buzz.
Meanwhile, neither Swift nor her boyfriend Joe Alwyn has confirmed the ongoing engagement rumors. The Sun previously claimed that the couple has "secretly got engaged."
The news outlet suggested that Taylor Swift only wears the ring "behind closed doors" and that they have been engaged for a few months. It added that even the "August" hitmaker's team is reportedly unaware of the event since the pair wants to stay away from the limelight as much as possible.
The same informant claimed that there would be no coverage when Swift and Alwyn tie the knot, even if the engagement has not actually been confirmed. The couple, however, seemingly responded to the unending engagement rumors when they showed no ring during their public date in London in July.
