Taylor Swift reflected on "Folklore" after bagging the Pop Album of the Year award at the iHeartRadio Music Awards 2021 Thursday.
The 31-year-old singer, who attended the event virtually, described her eighth studio album as an "emotional life raft."
"Thank you so much for this award and for honoring an album that I am so proud of," Swift said. "I have to say thank you to everyone at iHeart and everyone at radio who supported Folklore."
"Folklore was an album that I made in the very beginning of the pandemic," she recalled. "I started writing it, and I feel like it became a sort of emotional life raft for me to pour my feelings into."
Swift thanked her photographer Beth Garrabrant, who helped her "create this world."
"[Beth] helped me create this world that I saw in my head," she said. "Just the two of us in a field taking pictures was a really great experience, and I couldn't be happier with the album artwork."
She also credited collaborators Jack Antonoff and Aaron Dessner and told them, "I feel like we're going to be friends forever."
Swift also thanked her fans.
"Thank you to the fans for making this album what it was," she continued. "We all needed to escape into stories, whether movies or TV or film or music and the fact that you chose this album, I am so honored by that. You really wrapped your arms around it. Someday we’ll get to wrap our arms around each other when we see each other again."
Swift now holds the record for the artist with the most number of awards in iHeartRadio Music Award's history. She has so far received 13 awards, while Drake and Bruno Mars have 12 and 9 awards, respectively.
This is the second award that the pop star received this month. Swift also received the Global Icon Award at the BRIT Awards on May 11.
While Swift attended the event virtually, many stars such as Lil Nas X, Ariana Grande and The Weeknd appeared in person at iHeartRadio Music Awards.
During the show, music legend Elton John was presented with a tribute by H.E.R, Brandi Carlile and Demi Lovato and honored with an Icon Award.
