Taylor Swift recently ranted on Twitter informing her fans that Scott Borchetta and Scooter Braun would not allow her to perform her old songs. That social media post received several reactions from Netizens —yes, they have divided opinions on the matter.

Swift’s post pointed out the announcement that American Music Awards would be honoring her with the Artist of the Decade award and her plans of performing a medley of her hit songs. However, Borchetta and Braun prohibited her from performing her old songs on television, claiming that they [Borchetta and Braun] would be re-recording her music first.

Swift claimed that Borchetta made several conditions prior to allowing her to use her music, such as, agreeing not to re-record copycat versions of her songs next year and to stop talking about him and Braun.

Swift had been open about how furious she was when Big Machine Records, her old label, sold her music to Braun, Radar Online reported. Apparently, Swift is not backing down and she wanted people to know her side of the story.

Swift took Braun and Borchetta’s refusal as some sort of punishment. In her post, she said about receiving a clear message.

“Be a good girl and shut up. Or you’ll be punished,” Swift continued.

Swift also used the said social media platform to ask help from her fans. She also mentioned about Braun managing other artists and maybe —just maybe— they can talk some sense to him.

There was one fan who went to the extent of creating an online Petition for Swift at Change.org. #LetTaylorHaveHerSongsBack aims to get 7,500 people sign the said Petition. Thus far, more than 5,000 have already signed. The petition stated that it was in support for Swift’s post and called to let every artist have the rights to his/her songs.

On the other side of the fence, there were some who do not agree with Swift on this issue. See their Twitter response to Swift’s post below.

Swift’s Twitter post, which caused such an uproar among Netizens, seemed to have caught the attention of Dan Ravicher, Esq., law professor, attorney and an investor, who advised her to stand up and fight back.
