Taylor Swift's 'Bad Blood' Video Gets 20.1 Million Vevo Views In 24 Hours, Breaking Nicki Minaj Record
Taylor Swift's new music video for “Bad Blood” has broken the Vevo record for most views in 24 hours. The achievement comes just days after the songstress swept the 2015 Billboard Music Awards, bagging eight trophies -- including that of Top Female Artist.
Swift premiered “Bad Blood” during the Billboard Music Awards and it garnered 20.1 million views in just one day to set a new record. The tally broke the record set by Nicki Minaj's “Anaconda” music video -- 19.6 million views in 24 hours in 2014. Prior to Minaj, Miley Cyrus was the record holder with her famous “Wrecking Ball” music video.
According to a statement released by Vevo, 11 of Swift's videos have more than 100 million views each. They include “You Belong With Me,” “Mine,” “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together,” “I Knew You Were Trouble,” “Everything Has Changed,” “Mean,” “Love Story,” “22,” “Shake It Off,” “Blank Space” and “Style.”
The 25-year-old singer took to Twitter to share the news and the excitement. She also thanked the people associated with the music video. “FREAKING OUT RIGHT NOW,” wrote Swift on Twitter. She first thanked “Bad Blood's” director Joseph Kahn and then thanked various artists who appeared in the video. The “Style” singer appeared in the music video alongside various celebrities including Selena Gomez, Karlie Kloss, Cara Delevingne, Cindy Crawford, and Lena Dunham.
Also featured in the video are Gigi Hadid, Lily Aldridge, Zendaya, Ellen Pompeo, Mariska Hargitay, Hayley Williams, Jessica Alba, Hailee Steinfeld, Ellie Goulding, Serayah, and Martha Hunt. She then thanked rapper Kendrick Lamar, who too is featured on the record-breaking video.
