Teacher Had Sex With Foster Son, Faces Additional Charges For Contacting Teen

A North Carolina middle school teacher who was arrested for having sex with her 15-year-old foster son, faces additional charges over messages she sent to the teenager on social media. Christina Davis Jolly, 43, is accused of emailing and talking to the boy following her arrest in Statesville in August last year, despite being warned against it.

Jolly, who was released on $200,000 bond last year, was charged Thursday with violation of a pretrial release condition, local media the Statesville Record reported.

An investigation was launched against Jolly by Iredell County Sheriff's Office, when someone reported that a 15-year-old child living in a foster home was possibly being sexually abused by their guardian. She was initially charged with five counts of statutory rape of a child.

After being arrested, Jolly agreed to give up custody of the boy back in July. Investigators found that she was having sexual encounters with the boy dating back to August 2017. The teenager was questioned and he admitted to the alleged encounters. Jolly, who worked for the local school district since 2002, was suspended without pay after her arrest and was fired a week later.

However, she was arrested again after she contacted the boy on social media despite being ordered not to. The sheriff's office raided her home and seized her computers.

Currently Jolly remains in custody related to the recent violation of a pretrial release condition charge and her new secured bond is set at $200,000.

In a similar incident in November, a woman was found guilty of having sex with her teenage foster son. Kim Carrera, 50, was caught with the 17-year-old in her car by police. Though the boy was of the legal age of consent, it is still forbidden between foster parent and child to get involved in a sexual relationship. The Nebraska woman was convicted of second degree sexual assault of a protected person and faced up to seven years in jail. She was also convicted of tampering with physical evidence and child abuse.

In another incident early last year, a teacher in Oklahoma was charged with three counts of rape for having sex with her teenage foster son after vacationing with him in Florida. Stephanie Cowan, a science teacher at Pryor Junior High School, admitted to having sex with the boy.

“The first time they had sex was in his room, the second time was in her room and the third time was in the bathroom of her residence,” Pryor Police Department Assistant Chief James Willyard told KOTV at the time.
