Teacher Had Sex With Teenage Student Multiple Times, Sent Explicit Photos
A 31-year-old teacher in Bradenton, Florida, was arrested for having sex with a 15-year-old student multiple times. Kassandra Moore was charged Monday with four counts of lewd and lascivious battery and one count of transmission of harmful material to a minor, local media reported.
In a press release, the Bradenton Police Department stated that they received a complaint on April 10, 2019 from Broach School. Police said a juvenile “told another juvenile” that he was having sex with Moore and sent screenshots of their conversations. The boy’s claims about what happened were substantiated by DNA evidence, including from a used condom found at a local park, as well as video surveillance taken at a local school. Police said Moore and the teenage boy had sex four times between March 23 and March 29.
Moore was immediately placed on administrative leave by the school after the incident came to light, local media reported.
Investigators received a printed copy of text messages between the teacher and the student through an Instagram chat. The 15-year-old boy also released several screenshots of inappropriate selfie-style photographs Moore sent him. In the photos, Moore was seen wearing lingerie, exposing her body parts and posing in a sexual manner, police said.
Moore was fired by the Broach School two days after being placed on administrative leave. After her arrest Monday, she was taken to the Manatee County jail, where she was booked and was being held on bonds totaling $31,500, as of Tuesday.
“Our students and families are our top priority and we are deeply saddened by these allegations. Once we were notified of the allegations, we immediately reported them to the appropriate authorities and the teacher was terminated," Children’s Educational Services (CES), which owns the Broach School, said in a statement to ABC7. "All employees of CES are thoroughly vetted and complete a thorough FDLE background screening prior to employment. We take these allegations very seriously and are doing everything we can to facilitate the investigation."
"In order to protect the privacy of our students and their families and to maintain the integrity of the ongoing investigation, we are unable to provide further comment at this time,” the statement added.
Bradenton Police also said the investigation was underway.
