Teachers Having Sex With Students 2016: 7 Educators Who Slept With Minors This Year

At least two teachers in North Carolina were under scrutiny this week after allegations of sexual misconduct with their students surfaced. The teachers, in two separate counties in the state, both teach high school and could face jail time if the allegations are proven to be true.

Just one has been named. Jessica Welch Greene stands is accused of having sex with a student on at least three occasions in different locations including on school grounds (the age of her victim was not reported). The 27-year-old was suspended Tuesday from her position without pay as investigations continue. The other has not been formally charged and hasn’t been named by local media but allegedly started an affair with a 17-year-old through the social networking app Snapchat and also had sex with the student on and off campus.

Several teachers have been accused of having sexual relationships with their students this year. Below are seven examples.

Kelsey Leigh Gutierrez, 25: Gutierrez was charged in November for having sex with two of her Santa Fe High School students. The Texas teacher admitted to having sex with an 18-year-old in her car and later at his home. She also had sex with another teen, according to court documents, whom she had sex with in her car in a gas station parking lot.

Alexandria Vera, 24: Vera, a teacher at a Houston middle school, had sex with a 13-year-old student and was later impregnated by him. She argued that the boy’s family was supportive of the affair. She pleaded guilty to the crime in November and may avoid a potential 30-year jail sentence and a felony conviction on her record if she is granted deferred adjudication and put on probation.

Elizabeth Dillett, 31: Dillett was a kindergarten teacher in Wisconsin and pleaded guilty last month to sexual assault of a child by a person who works with children for having sex with a minor 16 years of age or older. Her plea convinced prosecutors to dismiss six other accounts against her including more severe charges. Dillett was suspended from her work in April.

Alaina Danielle Ferguson, 23: Ferguson was arrested last month for allegedly having zed with a 16-year-old student in Plano, Texas. The student reportedly initiated the affair on Snapchat (he had given her his handle by writing it on a test). The high school algebra teacher had to call off her wedding after details of her meeting up with the student and having sex on a park bench emerged.

Brad Casalvieri, 30: Casalvieri, a Florida high school football coach and teacher, was arrested in December after a male student told police that he had had a six-month affair with the teacher. The underage victim had started the relationship with his teacher through texts, which became explicit. They met up to have sex while Casalvieri’s wife was away from the house.
