Teaser For 'Wet Hot American Summer' Netflix Series Reveals Returning Cast; Who's Coming Back For 'First Day Of Camp'? [VIDEO]
It might still be the dead of winter, but Netflix warmed fans with the release of the first teaser for “Wet Hot American Summer: First Day of Camp.” The 8-episode series, set for a 2016 debut, is a sequel of sorts to the 2001 cult comedy, “Wet Hot American Summer,” which launched the careers of a more than a few household names. The movie has become famous for its star-studded cast and the trailer for the upcoming program confirms that nearly the entire original ensemble will return for the Netflix series.
The teaser simply pans towards a girl standing outside of one movie’s iconic cabins. When the camera finally gets close to her, viewers can see she is writing “Camp Firewood ‘81” on the side of the building. However, more interesting to fans is the more than a dozen names cascading across the screen during the promo revealing the returning cast.
Many of the actors in the 2001 cult comedy went on to accrue massively successful careers, getting Oscar nominations – Bradley Cooper – starring in sitcoms – Amy Poehler, Ken Marino – and becoming A-list stars – Elizabeth Banks and Paul Rudd. However, despite their fame, they’ve all made time in their busy schedules to come back to Camp Firewood.
Including the names already mentioned, the teaser also confirms that Michael Ian Black, Judah Friedlander, Janeane Garofalo, Joe Lo Truglio, Christopher Meloni, Marguerite Moreau, Zak Orth, Poehler, David Hyde Pierce, Molly Shannon and Michael Showalter will all return for the sequel series. Noticeably absent from the list though are A.D. Miles, who played Gary, Marisa Ryan, who played Abby Bernstein, Kevin Sussman, who played Steve, and “Archer” voice actor H. Jon Benjamin, who voiced a can of vegetables.
