'Ted' Is Sex Symbol in Plushie Community: Furries Love 'Ted' [VIDEO]
Mark Wahlberg is widely recognized in Hollywood as a sex symbol, but in his latest movie Ted premiering in theaters Friday, his co-star is the one getting all the attention. By the way, Mark Wahlberg' co-star is a stuffed animal.
Seth MacFarlane, who also wrote and directed the film, lends his voice to the character Ted. He's Mark Wahlberg's deadbeat best friend who seems to get in the way of John Bennett, Wahlberg's character's relationship with Mila Kunis, who plays Lori Collins in the film.
IMDB describes the film, As the result of a childhood wish, John Bennett's teddy bear, Ted, came to life and has been by John's side ever since -- a friendship that's tested when Lori, John's girlfriend of four years, wants more from their relationship.
Stuffed animals may seem like a child's toy, but Ted is bringing a whole new perspective to the childhood novelty. Though the movie just hit theaters Friday, Ted has already turned into a sex symbol, according to TMZ.
It may sound strange but there's a community dedicated to plushies, people who have a fetish for stuffed animals. Some of the people within the group, called furries, like to dress up as the fuzzy creatures as a type of role play.
TMZ reported that Seth MacFarlane was approached by a X-rated website that features plushies, Clips4Sale.com, so they could get the rights to use Ted as their new mascot.
The XXX site sent a letter, Not since Alf has there been this kind of excitement over a stuffed animal. We are very serious and would like to engage in talks with you at your earliest convenience, but Seth hasn't responded to the letter, according to TMZ.
