Teen Allegedly Kills Mother With Frying Pan After Being Reprimanded For Not Washing Dishes
A 14-year-old girl in India allegedly killed her mother with a frying pan following an argument over washing dishes.
The incident took place in the capital city of New Delhi on Sunday. According to the police, the woman, who was in her mid-30s, used to live with her daughter after being estranged from her husband.
A police officer said the woman had reprimanded her daughter Sunday for not washing the dishes, which led to an argument between them.
"The woman had asked her daughter to wash utensils. When the teenager did not do so, she scolded her, an argument followed and the girl allegedly kept hitting her on the head with a frying pan," NDTV quoted a senior police officer as saying.
The unidentified girl then reportedly asked her neighbors help to save her injured mother. The neighbors then rushed the woman to the hospital, where the doctors declared that she was brought dead. The hospital staff then informed the police.
"Two people known to the family took the woman to Kailash Hospital in Sector 71, Noida where she was declared brought dead. Following this, the police received a call from the hospital authorities informing about the case," additional deputy commissioner of police Kumar Ranvijay Singh said, the Millennium Post reported.
Singh noted the girl didn't speak the truth initially. She reportedly told the police that her mother was already lying on the floor when she returned home from a walk. The girl added she then ran to the neighbors for help.
However, after the police officers cross-questioned the teen and checked the CCTV footage in the apartment, they learned no outsider had visited their apartment. When the girl was further questioned about her mother, she admitted she killed her mother after a heated argument over doing house chores, the Millennium Post reported.
After the daughter admitted to the crime, the woman's brother filed a police complaint, and the cops found the frying pan the former she used to beat her mother to death.
The teenager faced charges under section 304 of the Indian Penal Code -- culpable homicide not amounting to murder, and was sent to a correctional home.
