Teen Choice Awards 2012: 'Vampire Diaries' Wins Big, Ian Somerhalder Picks Up Choice Male Hottie Award
The teen's made their choice Sunday night, and the Vampire Diaries seemed to be the big winner!
Taking a brief break from filming season four in Atlanta, the cast of the Vampire Diaries made their way to Los Angeles on Sunday night to ham it up on the red carpet, as well as pick up a bunch of surf boards!
The Vampire Diaries marched up to the stage to pick up their surf board for winning Choice TV Show in the Sci-Fi/Fantasy category. The series knocked out fellow CW show Supernatural, along with Fringe, True Blood and Once Upon A Time. Tyler Lockwood's Michael Trevino took control of the mic, thanking the Vampire Diaries fans for not only watching, but for voting. Trevino even told fans that the cast is flying back out shortly because they start working on season four again at 6 a.m. tomorrow!
Besides Vampire Diaries scooping up an award as a show, the talented cast picked up some awards of their own. Damon Salvatore's Ian Somerhalder won Choice TV Actor in a Sci-Fi/Fantasy, while real-life beau Nina Dobrev, who plays Elena Gilbert on The Vampire Diaries picked up Choice TV Actress in a Sci-Fi/Fantasy. Michael Trevino scooped up Choice Male TV Scene Stealer for his role as Tyler Lockwood on Vampire Diaries, with on-screen beau Candice Accola picking up Choice Female TV Scene Stealer for her role as Caroline Forbes.
Choice TV Actor is a Sci-Fi/Fantasy wasn't enough for Ian Somerhalder. Somerhalder also won the Teen Choice 2012 award for Choice Male Hottie! The Vampire Diaries hunk thanked the crowd, who chanted for him to take his shirt off.
You want me to take off my shirt? They would get mad at me if I take off my shirt, he told the disappointed ladies in attendance.
Dobrev and Paul Wesley were also presenters for the evening. Dobrev revealed the Choice Music Group, which was picked up by Selena Gomez and The Scene. Wesley presented the award for Choice Movie Comedy, which went to 21 Jump Street.
