A school teacher was arrested Saturday for raping a 15-year-old student. The incident took place in the southern Indian state of Andhra Pradesh.

According to local reports, the accused, identified as 26-year-old Rajendranath Yadav, and the unidentified student were from the same village. On Friday, Yadav called the girl home. He then raped her multiple times and let her go only in the evening after threatening her to not tell anyone about what happened.

The following day, the girl narrated the ordeal to her parents when they questioned her about where she was the previous day. A police complaint was filed following which the accused was taken into custody and the girl was sent for medical examination.

The accused was charged with rape and under several sections of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POSCO) Act. Investigation into the case was ongoing.

The incident comes two months after a school teacher in the Indian state of West Bengal was arrested for raping a six-year-old girl inside the classroom as the other students played outside. The girl narrated the ordeal to her mother following which a police complaint was filed. The teacher, 51-year-old Chandraman Khawas, was arrested and charged under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
