A 15-year-old girl killed her father with the help of her boyfriend for opposing their relationship. The incident took place in Bangalore, the capital city of the southern Indian state of Karnataka on Sunday.

Police said the unidentified girl first gave her father a glass of milk which was spiked with sleeping pills. After he fell asleep, she stabbed him to death with the help of her 18-year-old boyfriend. They then dragged the body to the bathroom and set it ablaze. The girl’s mother and brother were out of town when the incident took place.

A neighbor alerted the police and the fire brigade after seeing smoke emanating from the home. The firefighters entered the home only to find the charred body of the victim with over 10 stab wounds. The girl and her boyfriend were detained for questioning. Though initially they gave conflicting statements, they eventually confessed to the crime.

The girl told police that her father objected to her relationship with her boyfriend. Recently, he even belted her and took away her phone after he saw them together at a mall. Following this, the girl decided to kill her father in order to get her “freedom” back.

“They spent time in malls and would have long phone conversations. When the girl’s father learned about it, he asked his daughter to end the friendship,” police said.

Meanwhile, the victim’s wife, who returned to the city Sunday, was in shock.

“She’s in shock — she doesn’t know how to process the twin tragedies of her husband’s murder and their daughter’s detention. The daughter and her friend were brought to the crime scene for a spot inquest; she looked relaxed after seeing her mother,” a family member said.
