'Teen Mom 2' Episode 3 Recap: Jenelle Moves In With Nathan, Ali Needs A Wheelchair
As expected, “Teen Mom 2” delivered a heavy load of drama Tuesday night in its third episode of the season, “Keep Your Head Up.” Jenelle Evans, Chelsea Houska, Leah Messer Calvert and Kailyn Lowry-Marroquin dealt with their own issues as usual, but on this episode, it seemed one of the most troubled moms was the one who had the best outlook.
As many know now, Evans has been arrested 10 times in the past three years. One of those was a felony heroin charge. In the latest episode she meets up with her lawyer to discuss the pending charges against her and tells him although she acknowledges the threat of jail time, she doesn’t want to worry about it until her court date.
Later, viewers get to meet Nathan Griffith. For those who follow the North Carolinian’s life off the “Teen Mom 2” screen, Evans is currently pregnant with his child. Griffith makes a good first impression on Evans’ mother Barbara, who has custody of her 4-year-old son Jace. Though Barbara cautions her daughter to move slow, by the end of the episode the new couple decide to move in together.
While Evans is moving in, Houska is struggling with moving on. Her daughter Aubree is getting ready for pre-school and she can’t believe her baby is growing up so fast. She admits to still being attracted to Aubree’s father, Adam Lind, but unfortunately (or fortunately) he’s moved on and is having a baby with another woman. It’s not cleart whether Houska is jealous, or just truly concerned about how a new baby will affect her daughter-- but she’s not happy about it. She tells her friend she’s aware of the other woman’s pregnancy and know when she’s due and that’s all she cares and needs to know.
Pregnancy has seemingly turned out to be a headache for Marroquin. With her new husband Javi stationed in Delaware, she wants to move her new family out of Pennsylvania, but her son’s father, Jo Rivera, doesn’t want their child Isaac to be that far from him. She explains to friends that she would rather her children experience having a full-time father, and if Jo doesn’t let her leave the state she would essentially be a single mother again.
Having enough family around for Calvert’s children isn’t the problem. Aliannah has a rare disorder, congenital muscular dystrophy, and when her doctor confirms she will need a motorized wheelchair when she goes to school she has two grandparents, and two fathers in the room. Naturally, Calvert is devastated by the news, but her ex-husband Corey Simms is either impossibly optimistic or in complete denial when he hears the news, because he doesn’t seem to think it’s that big of a deal.
