In a shocking incident, a teenage boy in India killed his 13-year-old friend by slitting his throat. He wanted cops to arrest him so that he doesn't have to study anymore.

The 16-year-old boy, whose name wasn't revealed, allegedly lured the victim on the pretext of watching cars cruise down the road. The teen then strangled the minor boy and slit his throat with a beer bottle, DNA India reported.

The incident took place Monday near the Delhi-Meerut expressway in Masuri, located about 133 miles from India's capital New Delhi.

Following the gruesome killing, the accused allegedly dumped the minor's body in the bushes off the expressway. He later surrendered to police. The accused told investigators he was hatching the plan for at least five months and was taking cues from some movies to carry out the murder.

Authorities did not reveal the identity of the victim. He was reportedly the son of a daily wage worker and was a seventh-grade student.

"The parents told us that at 3 p.m., his friend had come to their house and taken the boy with him. So, we started to trace the minor's friend and sent a team to his house. But he was not there. His parents didn't have any idea about the incident or his whereabouts," Iraj Raja, a senior police officer, told the Times of India.

The accused told police that his parents were very strict and would force him to study but he wanted to quit. The boy had to change schools three times because he failed to pass his exams.

He told authorities that he had planned to surrender in case the cops weren't able to track him down.

The accused befriended the minor boy as part of his plan and kept meeting him over the past few weeks to win his trust. He even tried to kill another boy a month ago but couldn't muster the courage, police said.

The teen was charged with murder.
