‘Teen Wolf’ Season 6 Spoilers: New Video Reveals Returning Character Is Gay
During Jackson’s two seasons on MTV’s “Teen Wolf,” it was clear that he had a lot of issues. The jock was often angry and violent, and now we know at least part of why he was so unhappy. It seems Jackson was in the closet.
The character, played by actor Colton Haynes, has been doing well in London. A new sneak-peek video from “Teen Wolf” Season 6 shows that Jackson is apparently living with his boyfriend, Ethan (Charlie Carver). The American werewolves connected while across the pond and have been dating long enough to celebrate an anniversary.
“We’re an odd couple,” Carver told Entertainment Weekly. “His character’s always been kind of an arrogant prick, so I’m the one who tones him down.”
“They complement each other perfectly. They have a really beautiful relationship,” Haynes added.
Let’s hope that means they’ll do well in fights together. It looks like the boys will be in some serious trouble. In a clip release by EW, hunters burst into their apartment, and they’ve already attacked Jackson and tied him up. Then they shoot Ethan with a wolfsbane dart.
“So we hear you and your boyfriend have been tracking other werewolves. We want their names,” the hunter says.
Ethan doesn’t bother revealing anyone’s identity. He knows that using regular wolfsbane on Jackson was a bad idea. He’s part canima, so only yellow wolfsbane can keep him down. Jackson happily takes out the two hunters, destroying much of his and Ethan’s apartment. After the bad guys are down for the count, Jackson gives his love a kiss.

According to showrunner Jeff Davis, the decision to make Jackson gay was made a long time ago. “I thought, if Jackson comes back, he’s coming back in a relationship with a guy,” Davis told EW. “Whether that means he’s bisexual or gay, that’s how he’s returning. I just felt like he went off to London and found himself.”
Both Haynes and Carver came out as gay in 2016. The actors’ friends and families had been aware of their sexual orientations, but it wasn’t until they were in the limelight for a while that they decided they had to be open with their fans too.
“People want you to be that GQ image that you put out, but people don’t realize what it’s like to act 24 hours a day. I’d go home and I was still acting,” Haynes, who is now engaged to wedding planner Jeff Leatham, told EW last year. “People who are so judgmental about those who are gay or different don’t realize that acting 24 hours a day is the most exhausting thing in the world.”
Carver made his announcement just a few months earlier on Instagram after seeing a photo with the quote, “Be who you needed when you were younger.”
“Honesty is probably a great step in the right direction,” Carver wrote in a five-part post. “I now believe that by omitting this part of myself from the record, I am complicit in perpetuating the suffering, fear, and shame cast upon so many in the world. In my silence, I’ve helped decide for you too that to be gay is to be, as a young man (or young woman, young anyone), inappropriate for a professional career in the Arts (WHAAA???) So now, let the record show this — I self-identify as gay.”
Unfortunately, fans will have to wait an extra week for the two to play lovers. “Teen Wolf” Season 6 will be on hiatus this week for the MTV Video Music Awards. The show will return Sunday, Sept. 3.
