‘Teen Wolf’ Season 6B Spoilers: Fans React To Derek’s Surprise Return
“Teen Wolf” fans are already enthusiastic about the show returning for the final 10 episodes at the end of the month, but the new trailer made them even more excited. The promo video, seen above, reveals that many of our favorite characters are coming back for Season 6B. Among the familiar faces is is Derek, Tyler Hoechlin’s character, who left the gang in Season 4.
In the trailer, it’s clear that Scott (Tyler Posey) and the pack are in trouble on the MTV drama. Hunters have returned to Beacon Hills, and it doesn’t seem like Chris Argent (J.R. Bourne) can fight them off on his own. However, one of the most jaw-dropping moments is when Derek returns. “You didn’t think you were doing this without me, did you?” Stiles asks (proving that Dylan O’Brien will appear in the final episodes).
“Without us,” Derek corrects.

We see a shot of Derek growling with his blue eyes, and another shot shows Stiles apparently rescuing the werewolf. The Sheriff’s son is donning an FBI vest as he pulls a bloody Derek away from harm. The final shot of the trailer is someone speaking to Derek, Scott, Stiles, Lydia (Holland Roden) and Peter (Ian Bohen) — all of whom are original cast members. “Welcome back,” the voice (which sounds like Michael Hogan’s Gerard Argent) says. “You must all be feeling rather nostalgic.”
Derek’s return was a shock to “Teen Wolf” fans, so they took to Twitter right away to express their excitement.
“1. STILES IS IN HIS FBI SUIT 2. HES HELPING DEREK,” one user wrote. “I AM NOT OKAY.”
It seems Hoechlin’s return may even result in some old viewers returning. “oh derek is back i suddenly love teen wolf [sic],” another posted.

Last time viewers saw Derek, he had just gained the ability to turn into a full wolf rather than a human with wolf characteristics. He and Braeden (Meagan Tandy) had taken off seemingly to go after the Desert Wolf (Marisol Nichols). The former U.S. Marshall followed the villain back to Beacon Hills, but the Hale werewolf wasn’t with her.

It isn’t clear where exactly Derek has been in the time that his character has been gone, but he won’t reunite with Braeden. The actress strongly implied that she will not return to the MTV drama. As previously reported, Tandy tweeted that an unnamed show asked her back, but for some reason it just “didn’t work out.” She thanked the fans for being so supportive.
Plenty of others will return, however. Both Ethan (Charlie Carver) and Jackson (Colton Haynes) appeared briefly in the trailer. Ethan left at the end of Season 3 after his twin died while Jackson disappeared at the end of Season 2. It was later revealed that his family moved to England, making Jackson an American werewolf in London.
“Teen Wolf” Season 6B returns on a new night at a new time. The show will premiere Sunday, July 30 at 8 p.m. EDT on MTV.
