A teen rape victim allegedly killed her infant child because she felt humiliated and was upset over the baby's birth.

The unidentified 15-year-old girl from the central Indian state of Madhya Pradesh was reportedly in a relationship with a 17-year-old boy who raped her and impregnated her in February. The victim's family learned about the incident in August when the girl complained of stomach pain and was taken to a hospital, reported Times Now News.

The doctors at the hospital determined the girl was pregnant. The girl then confided in her parents about the sexual abuse, and they filed a complaint against the suspect at a local police station. The police launched a probe and arrested the boy under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offence (POCSO) Act of India. He was sent to a juvenile home.

The girl gave birth to the baby on Oct. 16 at a hospital, where she was admitted due to medical complications, the Hindustan Times reported. The hospital discharged her on Nov. 5, and a few days later, she visited the hospital with the baby and told the staff the child was sick. Doctors then declared the baby brought dead, according to the Hindustan Times.

It was revealed in an autopsy that the baby died of strangulation. Following a preliminary investigation by the police, the girl confessed to the crime, and was arrested. She is currently being held at a juvenile home.

In a similar incident, a 28-year-old woman killed her 8-month-old daughter and hanged herself because she was allegedly humiliated by being repeatedly raped by her father. The incident took place in the eastern Indian state of Bihar. The woman's husband also reportedly attempted to kill himself after he found his wife and the child dead, but was saved by neighbors. He told the cops the woman had alerted the authorities about the sexual abuse she faced at the hands of her father, but they didn't heed her claims. Feeling helpless, the woman killed the baby before taking her own life.
