'Tekken X Street Fighter' 2016? Game Is Far Into Development, Definitely Not Cancelled
Bandai Namco has not forgotten about the "Tekken X Street Fighter" crossover, according to an interview with Tekken series producer Katsuhiro Harada that was translated by Siliconera. The game was announced at SDCC in 2010, with not much information forthcoming. Since then, fans have been on edge about its potential cancellation.
The game will include a roster from both of the big franchises and "Tekken X Street Fighter" is supposedly set to drop in 2016 for PS4 and Xbox One, whether or not that is likely is yet to be seen but Harada did say that “we’re at a pretty far stage into its development.”
It is possible that the project will be pushed back due to the releases of "Tekken 7" earlier this year and the upcoming "Street Fighter V" in March 2016, with Harada saying it has been difficult to time the release of "Tekken X Street Fighter" due to the other titles.
“It might seem like we haven’t started on it at all, but the character lineup has been decided upon since a very long time ago,” said Harada. “We’ve already finished the polygon models, moves and systems.”
A more definitive release date for the crossover has not yet been given, but the fact that it is happening at all is great news for fans.
