Telegram Messaging App Now Offers Bot-Powered Games
Telegram, the popular messaging app, has launched a bot-powered gaming platform through its mobile applications for iOS and Android.
To start, the company has 30 games that are available, and many of them are published by game developer Gamee. Telegram has everything from real-time strategy games, 3D-shooters , arcade games and puzzle games.
To start playing a game, users can open a chat with the bot @gamee, then choose the game they want to start playing. Some of the games include a math based challenge game, called MathBattle, that the site says its developers built in three hours. There’s also a football game called Football Star, built by a third party.
Users can also challenge their friends on the gaming platform and start up competition through existing chats, of course, high scores will be saved and players will be notified when their score gets beat on the leaderboard.
“The best part of the Telegram Gaming Platform is the competition across all of your existing chats. We save high scores for every game played in every chat, and you can instantly check out how you and your friends are doing against each other. Every time there’s a new leader in the game, other playing members of the chat are notified that they need to step up,” the site says.
Telegram is inviting other developers to help build more games on its platform, saying it will only take a few hours to build a game. The games are built using HTML 5, so they load like a regular web page and take up zero space on the host device.
To play games on Telegram app, users will need to download the apps latest version 3.13, which is available on the App Store now.
