Nordic telecoms company TeliaSonera (TLS1V.HE)(TLSN.ST) said on Thursday it will begin lay-off talks in Finland and estimates some 200 jobs might be cut.

To secure the company's long-term profitability, TeliaSonera Finland will begin lay off talks to carry out operational changes and measures improving profitability in broadband and business service support operations, it said.

A customer service unit in Vaajakoski, central Finland, was earmarked for closure, the company said.

Some of the employees that face redundancy might find a new job within the company, it added.

TeliaSonera, the Europe's fifth-biggest operator by market capitalisation, reported earlier this month fourth-quarter core profit at 9.0 billion Swedish crowns ($1.41 billion), flat year-on-year, and said it expected 2011 sales to grow 4 percent this year. [ID:nLDE71206K]
