Telltale's ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ Game Will Premiere This Spring; First Official Photos Released
Telltale Games has released the first batch of images from its “Guardians of the Galaxy” video game. The developer also announced that the first episode of the series will premiere this spring.
“Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy: The Telltale Series” was first announced back in December 2016. Like all of Telltale’s other games, “Guardians of the Galaxy” will be an episodic story-based adventure where gamers will have to make crucial decisions in order to progress through the game.
Just like the 2014 film, the “Guardians of the Galaxy” Telltale series will feature Star-Lord, Gamora, Drax, Rocket and Groot. The story will be about a mysterious and powerful artifact that the Guardians all desire for their own reasons, according to Engadget. The game also features an unnamed female villain who is also seeking the artifact.
"From Earth to the Milano to Knowhere and beyond, and set to the beat of awesome music, you wear the rocket-powered boots of Star-Lord in an original Guardians adventure, where your decisions and actions drive the story you experience," Telltale Games said on its website.
Although the Telltale series appears to be taking most of the same elements from 2014 film, the game itself might not tie in with the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The voice acting cast includes Scott Porter, Emily O’Brien, Nolan North, Brandon Paul Eells and Adam Harrington.
Telltale Games also announced that it will be at PAX East this week in Boston to talk more about the upcoming game. The developer will also be attending the South By Southwest festival in Austin, Texas on March 17 where fans will be able to Crowd Play an early version of the game.
There’s no exact release date yet for “Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy: The Telltale Series” yet, but it will be available this spring for the PlayStation, Xbox, iOS/Android devices and the PC. The game will also be available as a special physical season pass disc.
No word yet on pricing for the special season pass disc, nor is there any information on how much each episode will cost. With Telltale’s other games, each episode usually costs somewhere between $25 and $30.
