Temporary evacuation at Fukushima nuclear plant after the 7.1 magnitude earthquake
Following the 7.1 magnitude earthquake that hit Japan, authorities issued a tsunami warning. As the epicenter of the quake was in Fukushima prefecture, authorities ordered immediate evacuation of workers at the Fukushima nuclear plant.
The Telegraph quoted a TEPCO spokesman as stating: The Company ordered workers to withdraw and stay in a quake-proof building. We don't know many workers were involved.
The team of workers at the plant has been battling odds to control the emergency situation as radiation continues to leak into the atmosphere and the ocean.
TEPCO also informed that the facility lost a power source that is used to pump and inject water into the overheated reactors and are debating the use of a fire pump to continue supply of water to the reactors.
