Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea has revealed why head coach Erik ten Hag was "angry" despite their latest win over Bournemouth.
Manchester United recorded their fourth straight victory in the 2022-23 Premier League on Tuesday with a comfortable 3-0 triumph over Bournemouth at Old Trafford. Overall, it was the Red Devils' sixth consecutive victory in all competitions.
In an interview, De Gea revealed Ten Hag was not pleased with the fact that the hosts allowed Bournemouth to create many chances in the game.
"He was happy with the clean sheet but at the same time he was a bit angry. Because we conceded too many chances and we were too open at the end of the game, so he was a bit angry," De Gea said.
After a slow start to the 2022-23 campaign, where Manchester United lost their opening two league games, Ten Hag and Co have bounced back well and now are in the top four of the league table.
"He [Ten Hag] is doing well. I say before, he puts every player in the same direction and we feel like a proper team. Everyone wants to win, everyone wants to play for this club and that's massive. He brought a great spirit to the team, we are playing really well and this is the way we have to show and keep the momentum as well," added De Gea in the same interview.
In a post-match interview, after Manchester United's victory over the South-Coast side Tuesday, Ten Hag did not hide his emotions as he said that his side got lucky in their victory over Bournemouth.
"I'm happy with the result. Today it was not our best game. We have to be honest, we didn't play that smart as a team. We made great goals, but at times we were quite lucky, and some great saves from David [de Gea]. We could have been smarter as a team," Ten Hag said.
Manchester United's upcoming two games are in the domestic competitions, starting with a FA Cup third-round fixture against Everton on Friday. Then, they take on Charlton in the League Cup quarter-final on Jan. 10. After this, Ten Hag and Co are scheduled for two big games: Premier League clashes with Manchester City (Jan. 14) and Arsenal (Jan. 22).
The Red Devils have 35 points from 17 games in the Premier League this season, nine points behind leaders Arsenal.
