The threat of COVID-19 has greatly affected the world as it continues to infect thousands of lives across multiple countries. The complex nature of this coronavirus spread remains to be a rapidly evolving issue. The World Health Organization has announced this situation as a global pandemic as it has drastically changed the dynamics of the world. The way the virus spreads so quickly has forced the people to stay home at all times.
The WHO has emphasized the practice of social distancing. While this has eliminated the usual human interaction that people are accustomed to, this precautionary measure is implemented to ensure everyone is safe. Everyone is expected to remain indoors to decrease the probability of the virus spreading even further. This has caused abrupt changes in the world as major events, annual activities and other grand spectacles have been put to a halt.
This has put an impact on athletes who have already prepared for their specific schedules that were already set beforehand. But despite the difficulty it may entail, these iconic figures are also among the first people to support the movement.
Current world number one player and tennis superstar Novak Djokovic has opened up his thoughts during this difficult time.
He took to social media to show support to those risking their lives for the coronavirus. He recently shared on social media how important it is to stay indoors at this time. He then shared a photo of the medical workers with a hashtag #stayhome as a way to appreciate those who put themselves at risk for everyone’s safety.
He also added how crucial our participation is in this dark time that we live in. “Please stay at home in quarantine and help frontline medical people to help all the people infected and in need,” he said.
He shared that he continues to pray for everyone’s health and healing. He likens the situation as an opportunity to help the frontline workers and at the same time reflect and activate one’s spiritual healing. “By being at home we will not only hopefully help to slow the spread of the virus, but we will also give ourselves a chance to truly address certain emotions and subconscious programs that have been suppressed and ignored.”
