Teresa Giudice Sentencing Update: ‘RHONJ’ Star Didn't Tell Youngest Daughters About Prison Time
Teresa and Joe Giudice talked about their prison sentences during “Watch What Happens Live” with Bravo host Andy Cohen Monday. The “Real Housewives of New Jersey” stars admitted their youngest daughters don’t know their parents will spend time behind bars after they both pleaded guilty to a slew of fraud charges.
Gia, 13, is the only one who knows about Teresa and Joe’s sentence. The other three girls, Gabriella, 9, Milania, 8, and Audriana, 5, were not told.
"They don't know anything," Teresa said, according to Us Weekly. "Actually, Milania came up to me while I was in bed yesterday and said, 'Do you have something to say to me?' And I said, 'Like what?'" Teresa said there is a possibility some of her girls have figured it out already.
"Gabriella gave me a kiss this morning," Teresa said of her "not that affectionate" daughter. "So, she gave me a kiss and came up to me. I love that, because my Gabriella, she's so good."
Teresa said when she eventually tells them about going to prison she won’t say “mommy’s going somewhere” but she didn’t offer a direct hypothetical response. She and her husband will not be serving their sentences at the same time, so one parent is home with the children.
Teresa said she was “shocked” when she found out her sentence from Judge Esther Salas. “It was very unexpected,” she said. “I don't know, I don't even know what to say."
As far as the time she will spend behind bars, Teresa said she would be OK. "I'm going to do fine [in prison],” she said, according to People. “I don’t care about [my appearance]. I'll just slick my hair back and go about my day."
The couple was sentenced last Thursday. Joe will serve a 41-month sentence and Teresa will serve a 15-month sentence.
