'Terminator Genisys': Clip Shows Jai Courtney Battling Arnold Schwarzenegger
Paramount Pictures has released a new clip from “Terminator Genisys,” the fifth installment in the "Terminator" series starring Arnold Schwarzenegger. The clip, released via Empire Online, shows Kyle Reese (Jai Courtney) fighting the Terminator (Schwarzenegger). It opens with Reese driving a truck and Sarah Connor (Emilia Clarke) telling him that “everything has changed. The 1984 John sent you to no longer exist.”
The Terminator that Reese came to destroy has already been taken care of, Connor reveals. Confused Reese takes out his gun as he sees Schwarzenegger's time-traveling cyborg lurking in the back of the truck. But before he can do something, Schwarzenegger’s Terminator hits him with a rod.
“Terminator Genisys” is set in 2029 and will see John Connor, leader of the human resistance, sending his trusted lieutenant Reese back through time in order to save his mother (Clarke). However, the original past has changed and the reprogrammed T-800 (Schwarzenegger) has raised Clarke’s character. Now Reese, Sarah and old Terminator have to fight the evil T-800, T-1000 and T-3000 to save their lives. T-3000 is John himself, who has been converted into human-cyborg hybrid and has been sent by Skynet, the main antagonist.
Alan Taylor has directed the film from the script by Laeta Kalogridis and Patrick Lussier, based on characters by James Cameron and Gale Anne Hurd. David Ellison and Dana Goldberg have produced and Lorne Balfe has provided the music. The cast also includes Lee Byung-hun, Matt Smith, J.K. Simmons and others.
Schwarzenegger is the only actor to reprise his role from the previous films and he is quite thrilled to be part of the new installement. “ 'Terminator' deals a lot with time travel, so there will be a younger T-800, and then what that model does later on when it gets reprogrammed, and who gets ahold of him. So it will be all kinds of interesting twists in the movie, but I feel so good,” he told MTV.
“Terminator Genisys” opens July 1. It will also be shown in 3D, Real 3D and IMAX 3D.
