  • Elon Musk recently offered an update on Tesla Cybertruck
  • It will feature 4-wheel steering
  • Tesla has not yet revealed the specific release details of the Cybertruck

The much-awaited all-electric pickup truck from Tesla is coming this year. It looks like it's going to impress auto enthusiasts all the more with its design and features, which include a game-changing mode that is almost similar to that of GMC Hummer EV.

Tech innovator and billionaire Elon Musk said in a tweet over the weekend that the "Cybertruck will be almost exactly what was shown." The CEO was responding to a user who asked him to give some updates related to the all-electric pickup truck. This means that fans could expect very little change in the design of the upcoming truck between the concept and mass production model.

Musk also revealed a very interesting detail about the Cybertruck. He confirmed that the upcoming truck will feature 4-wheel steering. The CEO teased, "We're adding rear wheel steering, so it can do tight turns and maneuver with high agility."

Several industry watchers noted that what the tech tycoon is referring to is a feature that is similar to that of the recently-revealed Crab Mode GMC Hummer EV. The Crab Mode is a driving feature available on GMC Hummer EV, which allows users to drive in a diagonal direction. This mode utilizes the combination of rear wheel steering and torque vectoring.

GMC describes this mode as "The supertruck's industry-leading Crab Mode feature is enabled by the GMC HUMMER EV’s four-wheel steering capability, allowing it to move in a diagonal direction – functionality that is tailor-made for off-roading customers." The mode comes in handy, particularly when drivers are getting in and out of tough situations.

The Crab mode is essentially useful off-road, where drivers do not get the same road consistency as the asphalt found in urban areas. The Tesla Cybertruck and the GMC Hummer EV share a lot of Crab Mode features.

If Musk makes true of his recent statement about the Cybertruck's 4-wheel steering feature, then it appears that it will now share Hummer EV's unique feature as well. However, there are no details available about how this 4-wheel steering feature of Cybertruck will work.
