Tesla and Porsche have claimed their spot as this is the year for EVs as frontliners in the market. This story is all about the former.

In a battle to establish family superiority, a Model S beat a Model 3 in a drag race. Media outlets termed it new versus old.

That would be the mightiest from the older Model S versus the Model 3 Long Range Dual Motor configuration.

When analyzed on paper, the Model S would be the one to take the win in this matchup considering the various performance advantages it has up its sleeves. Though, things on the ground can be a bit different.

The Model 3 features in the near lane while the Model S is on the outer lane. Both of them had solid starts, but the Model S took an early lead. The camera is a bit shaky from the long zoom, but the result shows the Model S maintaining for the win.

Tesla’s have seen a lot of drag strip time this year to put them to the test against petrol-based engines in various classes. Earlier this year, the Model 3s were set up against Chevy Camaro ZL1s, a Ford Mustang and a Corvette Grand Sport. The outcome was undeniable.

Just recently a Model 3 went up against a Jaguar XE and an Audi R8. The results were catastrophic for the later adversaries.
It seems every drag race with Tesla feeds the egos of the fan community and the brand but rightly so.

The Model 3 which beat the Audi R8 and the Jaguar XE is a base model expected to contend with the likes of BMW 7 series, Audi S or even the new Toyota Supra. Instead, it has been paired up with supercars and managed to defeat them on short races.

The Model S was the one meant to deal with the supercar and hypercar category. It has won all races it has been thrown into thus far. The only races left would be one with a 918 Porsche Spyder, a Ferrari la Ferrari, and a McLaren P1.

Even with an acceleration of 2.2 seconds from 0 to 60 miles an hour, it would be hard-pressed to maintain a lead with any of these hyper-cars. Elon Musk, Tesla Founder, stated the roadster version of the Model S is going to have an even faster acceleration at 1.9 seconds. That would make it the quickest road car in the world.
