A Texas homeowners association ordered a San Antonio family to remove Christmas decorations that were put up too early.

The Simonis family decided to get a jump on the holiday season because a new baby is due next month. They started putting up decorations Nov. 1, triggering a notice from the Diamond Association Management & Consulting homeowners' association telling them the early decorations violate association rules.

“Maintenance – Holiday Decorations Need To Be Removed,” the association wrote in the note acquired by San Antionio NBC-affiliate, WOAI. The letter specifically referenced an inflatable snowman on the family's front lawn.

“I was like, ‘Wow, that's a first,’” Nick Simonis told WOAI. “I was angry, because there’s a reason why we're doing it.”

Simonis and his wife, Claudia, are expecting their third child in December. They told NBC News they put the decorations up early so their two sons could enjoy the display and in case she goes into labor before her Dec. 25 due date.

“I just found it crazy,” Claudia Simonis said. “Especially that they didn’t give us a time. Like, when is the right time?”

The couple said they don’t intend to take down any of the decorations and will only continue adding to their display. Neighbors have also joined the family in a sign of solidarity by putting up their own decorations.

“I don't think this should be an issue,” said Charles Minton, one of the Simonis’ neighbors. “These are the holidays. This is what we do. We take care of our neighbors. That's what a neighborhood is about.”
