Texas Man Accidentally Shoots 11-Year-Old Daughter To Death While Hunting

Authorities in Texas opened an investigation after a man accidentally shot his 11-year-old daughter while hunting.
The incident took place in Harrison County on Saturday at around 5:15 p.m. Officials with the Harrison County Sheriff's Office received a 911 call regarding a hunting accident involving an 11-year-old girl, Local 12 reported. The girl was identified as Daisy Grace Lynn George.
Further calls revealed that the father of the child had accidentally shot and killed her with a high-powered rifle while they were on a hunting trip near Young and Hickey Road in Hallsville.
"The Sheriff is working with the Hallsville ISD superintendent to coordinate grief counselors for all faculty and students affected by this horrible tragedy,” Captain Tyler Owen of HCSO told the outlet.
HCSO Deputies and Emergency Medical Services units arrived on the scene and located found Daisy Grace with life-threatening injuries. Reports reveal that emergency helicopters couldn't reach the place due to unfavorable weather conditions. The victim was transported by an emergency vehicle to Christus Good Shepherd Medical Center in Longview, where she died after doctors failed to resuscitate her.
"Anytime a young person loses their life, it's tragic for all involved. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family and friends during this difficult time," Tyler told the outlet.
Officials with the sheriff’s office and the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department Game Warden will jointly probe into the incident, according to KIRO-7.
In January 2020, a father and his young daughter in South Carolina were shot and killed by another hunter who allegedly mistook them for deers. The father, Kim Dawdry, 30, and his daughter Lauren, 9, were out deer hunting near Walterboro, South Carolina, when the tragic incident took place. The pair was with two other hunters and they split up to try and drive deer into shooting range. The fatal shots were fired by a hunter from the other group.
