Texas Murder-Suicide: 92-Year-Old Man Fatally Shoots Wife Of 70 Years Before Killing Himself
In a case of murder-suicide, an elderly couple was found dead at their home in Franklin, Texas, over the weekend.
According to local reports, officers from the Robertson County Sheriff’s Office and the Franklin Police Department arrived at the home Sunday (April 12) afternoon after receiving information that two people were found dead under suspicious circumstances. The responding officers found an elderly man and a woman dead with gunshots wounds. The couple was later identified as 92-year-old Kenneth Thurman and 90-year-old Ruth Ann Thurman.
Based on the autopsy reports and other evidence, officials confirmed that it was a case of murder-suicide. Officials believe Kenneth shot himself after killing his wife. Ruth Ann was apparently shot three times.
Meanwhile, speaking to CBS-affiliated television station KBTX, the couple's unidentified son said the two were married for over 70 years. He added that they loved their family and their community very much and that they will be missed by everyone.
Investigation was ongoing to find out what circumstances led to the incident. However, officials confirmed there was no known history of domestic violence.
The incident comes less than a month after a man fatally shot his girlfriend’s 15-year-old daughter before turning the gun on himself in Georgetown, Texas. Police responded to a home after receiving information of a gun being fired. The responding officers found two people, later identified as the teen and 37-year-old Ruben Tobias Jr., dead. It was revealed that the two got into an argument during which the man opened fire at the teen before turning the gun on himself.
In another incident in Las Vegas earlier this month, a man fatally shot his sons before turning the gun on himself. Police arrived at a home after receiving a shooting report. They found two teenage boys dead with multiple gunshot wounds. Their father was also found dead with a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
