Texas Murder-Suicide: Police Find 2 Children, 2 Adults Dead With Gunshot Wounds
Police in Grandbury, Texas found the bodies of two adults and two children with gunshot wounds in an apparent murder-suicide.
Officers performed a welfare check on Thursday around 2:45 p.m. at a home in a small North Texas town. Authorities have identified the adults as Marcus Buchanan, 36, and Rita Buchanan, 34. The two children, both girls, were ages 13 and 3.
Investigators claimed evidence from the scene suggested a murder-suicide occurred and no one else was involved in the deaths. Police have not shared the information on the relationship between the four deceased.
Neighbors, friends, and family were left shocked by the incident. Maddison Blanchard, who lives across the street from the crime, formed a friendship with the 13-year-old victim.
“We were really close. She always rode the bus every morning,” said Blanchard. “We would walk together. She was a really good person, and I am really shocked.”
In a statement, the Granbury Independent School District (ISD) confirmed both of the minors were students in the district.
“The death of a student is one of the hardest things any school district faces. The tragic loss of two of our precious students is heartbreaking for students, teachers and staff, and our community,” said Jeremy Glenn, of the Granbury ISD.
“We appreciate the difficult work of the Granbury Police Department, and we will assist with the investigation as appropriate,” Glenn added.
While further details about the scene of the murder-suicide were not available, the investigation remains ongoing.
