Texas Tornado Live Stream 2013: Mile Wide Twister Results In 'Mass Casualty Situation'
Tornado sirens were blaring in northern Texas Wednesday night where residents were urged to seek shelter. According to NBC DFW, thunderstorms soon turned into severe hailstorms, with a Tornado Warning that was in effect for Dallas and Johnson counties until 11:15 p.m. EDT. A Hood County sheriff said several fatalities, multiple injuries and serious damage have occurred following the tornado, NewsBreaker reported. Some of the hail that fell in Texas on Wednesday measured nearly 4 inches wide.
According to NBC DFW, a Tornado Watch is in effect until 1 a.m. Thursday for Bosque, Collin, Comanche, Cooke, Dallas, Denton, Eastland, Ellis, Erath, Fannin, Grayson, Hamilton, Hill, Hood, Hunt, Jack, Johnson, Kaufman, Montague, Palo Pinto, Parker, Rockwall, Somervell, Stephens, Tarrant, Wise and Young Counties.
Weather is expected to clear up by Thursday afternoon, the local news site wrote, except for Dallas, where showers will probably linger.
Texans have been taking to Twitter to talk about the extreme weather their state has been facing.
Reed Timmer of TVN posted on Twitter: “LIFE THREATENING SITUATION! Mile-wide tornado heading straight north now toward Cleburne, TX! TAKE COVER NOW!”
CNN's Ryan Sloane reported that at least 10 people were injured from the storm and that people were trapped in their homes.
NewsBreaker wrote that there are mass injuries in Granbury, Texas, with the "less seriously wounded carrying the more seriously hurt."
Shawn Reynolds from The Weather Channel quoted Hood County Commissioner Steve Berry as saying, "we are in a mass casualty situation."
