LeBron James is currently enjoying his best spell with the new franchise, the Los Angeles Lakers, since joining as a free agent in the summer – they have won eight of their last 10 games and are slowly creeping up the Western Conference table.

The three-time NBA champion revealed that patience was key when he joined a young Lakers team, who had failed to make the post-season playoffs in the last five seasons.

He is currently reaping the rewards as they seem to have hit a flow after a difficult start to the season when they lost their opening three games. It is still relatively early in the campaign, but the Lakers seem to be a happy bunch at the moment.

James led his team to victory over his former team the Cleveland Cavaliers on Wednesday night and was given a standing ovation when he entered the Quicken Loans Arena. The 14-time NBA All-Star has much to be thankful for in his career but admitted that the 2018 Thanksgiving will be spent thanking everything off the court rather than on it.

“My family and friends come before anything in life,” James said, as quoted by the Express. “Without them, I wouldn’t be able to do the things every single day.”

“So I’m thankful for them every day, they allow me to do what I do both on the floor and off the floor. They give me the guidance, they give me the strength, and they get on me when I’m not doing what I’m supposed to be doing. They also strengthen me when I don’t have all the strength in the world to get through it,” he added. “So my friends, my wife, my three kids, my mother, my in-laws, and the list goes on and on and on. I’m thankful for all of them.”

Meanwhile, James’ former teammate Kyrie Irving, who plays for the Boston Celtics is not having the best start to the season. NBA’s most successful franchise was touted as one of the favorites in the Eastern Conference, but they are not playing anything like one of the best in the East.

The Celtics are 9-9 after 18 games and are currently in eighth place in the Eastern Conference. Their most recent loss came to the New York Knicks, who had a 4-14 record coming into the game at TD Garden on Wednesday night.

Irving seemed to be in a foul mood after the game when he was asked about his plans for Thanksgiving. He was in complete contradiction to his former Cavaliers teammate when he said: “I don’t celebrate that s---.”

Irving said, “F--- Thanksgiving,” after being wished by someone as he left the court following their loss to the Knicks, according to Yahoo Sports.

There will be no NBA action on Thursday as the United States celebrates Thanksgiving. The matches will resume Friday with most of the franchises in action including the Lakers, who will be at home against Utah Jazz.
