Thieves in San Jose, California ended up getting nothing but a shock when they stole a man’s duffle bag and found four pythons and a lizard worth $5,000 inside it.

The bag belonged to Brian Gundy, a native of Campbell who sells and breeds reptiles through his business 'For Goodness Sake.'

“Can you imagine what their emotional response and reaction was when they opened up the bag and saw what they saw?” Gundy joked.

The man was on his way home after delivering a routine presentation at Dr. Martin Luther King Library when he put his bag in a no parking zone about 150 feet from his car. A minute later, the bag was gone, reports KTVU.

“As I was loading my gear, I realized the bag that had my four ball pythons and blue skink lizard was gone which was there just seconds ago,” said Gundy.

He ran after a group of people but failed to catch them.

Gundy posted a video on YouTube, informing people about the incident as he was scared the reptiles could be given away at a pet shop or simply dumped somewhere.

“These are reptiles, not everyone knows how to take care of them,” he said.

The reptile lover said he filed an online report on Sunday afternoon and that the snakes are not venomous or a threat to anyone, reported Mercury News. Piper, Bob, and Whitey are ball pythons while Shorty is a Burmese python. The bag also had a lizard called Stretch, he also informed.

“These are the animals I hatched. They are my babies,” said the emotional man.

Although he has filed a police report, he does not want to press charges against anyone, he just wants his reptiles back safely.
