This Is How Jeffrey Dean Morgan Reacted To Candace Cameron Bure's 'Traditional Marriage' Remark
Jeffrey Dean Morgan has sided with his wife Hilarie Burton after the latter slammed Candace Cameron Bure over her recent comment on traditional marriage. In a tweet, the "Walking Dead" star praised Burton, saying she got the "words and timing."
Bure came under fire last week after saying in an interview with The Wall Street Journal that the Great American Family network, of which she is the chief creative officer, would "keep traditional marriage at the core." One of the first celebrities to call her out was Burton, who called Bure a "bigot."
"Bigot. I don't remember Jesus liking hypocrites like Candy," she wrote. "But sure. Make your money, honey. You ride that prejudice wave all the way to the bank."
The tweet, which has earned over 24,000 love reactions and 2,800 comments, also got the support of Morgan. He also subtly derided Bure in his comment, asking his wife, "Who the f** is this person?"
"How'd I miss this twit?!," he wrote. "Who the f**k is this person? Hey Hil? You're awesome. We lucky to have ya, X. 'Make your money honey,' Lol... cooked kids dinner and was laughing whole time. Wife has words AND timing."
Morgan and Burton weren't the only celebrities to sound off their thoughts on Bure's anti-LGBTQ+ remark. In an Instagram post Tuesday, Jojo Siwa, who came out as gay last year, described Bure's comment as "rude and hurtful to a whole community of people."
"Honestly, I can't believe after everything that went down just a few months ago, that she would not only create a movie with intention of excluding LGBTQIA+, but then also talk about it in the press," she wrote.
In response to the backlash, Bure told E! News, "It absolutely breaks my heart that anyone would ever think I intentionally would want to offend and hurt anyone."
She also expressed her love for the members of the LGBTQ community, saying, "To everyone reading this, of any race, creed, sexuality, or political part, including those who have tried to bully me with name-calling, I love you."
