Is Thor In ‘Guardians Of The Galaxy 3’? Chris Hemsworth Isn’t Sure
Even Chris Hemsworth isn’t sure what’s coming up next for Marvel Studios. “Avengers: Endgame” (spoilers ahead) wrapped up Thor’s storyline with the Asgardian handing the throne to Valkyrie and getting on a ship with the Guardians of the Galaxy. However, Hemsworth admitted that he isn’t privy to Marvel’s plans for the god of thunder.
The Australian star opened up about his desire to play “Thor” again. However, he isn’t sure what the plan is for Thor.
“I’d still love to do more, to be honest,” the actor told Variety. “And I don’t know what the plan is. I feel like we’ve opened up such a different character. I feel more energized for the possibility of where it could go... But I’ll use that in other places and other characters if it’s the end here.”
The final scenes of “Endgame” make it seem obvious that Thor is going to join the Guardians. He and Peter Quill/Star-Lord (Chris Pratt) were already fighting for control of the team. However, “Endgame” writers Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely didn’t actually run this plan by “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3” director James Gunn.
“We did not talk much, to tell you the truth. We kind of just rolled it up in front of him and, yeah, I look forward to seeing what happens,” Markus told Cinema Blend earlier this month.
“That’s right. I don’t know. But I do think it becomes a nice... there’s a lot of room for growth there, right?” McFeely added. “Now, again, I don't know what happens in ‘Guardians [Of The Galaxy Vol. 3]’, but if they find [Gamora], that relationship is brand new. We the audience know what it could be, and there’s a character that doesn’t value it, or doesn’t know, or whatever. I think there’s some opportunity there.”
The answer might become clearer later this summer when Marvel Studios officially announces their plans. Marvel boss Kevin Feige is expected to reveal the next phase of the Marvel Cinematic Universe after “Spider-Man: Far From Home” hits theaters July 2.
