‘Thor: Ragnarok’ First Reviews: What Are The Critics Saying?

A lucky few managed to catch “Thor: Ragnarok” ahead of the rest of the world, so what are their thoughts about Marvel’s latest offering?
From what critics have so far posted on Twitter, the new movie directed by Taika Waititi is a definite crowd-pleaser. In fact, it’s going to make Thor (Chris Hemsworth) everybody’s favorite Avenger given his hilarious quips in his standalone movie, according to NME.

Btw, #ThorRagnarok is solid MCU fun. Great music, Blanchett is awesome, looks/feels like an 80's video game. Slight, but wholly entertaining

#ThorRagnarok is a ton of fun! Self-contained MCU plot, but character work is awesome, and the adventure a thrill. Best of the Thor movies! pic.twitter.com/tQ8DuCcwxM

Waititi really put a fresh spin on the third movie from the “Thor” franchise, and moviegoers cannot wait to see what the director for “Hunt for the Wilderpeople” and “What We Do in the Shadows” did.
However, Waititi shared with The Verge some of the new things fans can expect from the god of thunder’s upcoming film. “I want to take people on a ride and inject some comedy into it,” Waititi said. “An adventure that keeps people laughing along the way, but also has the spectacle and stuff that gets people excited.”
Hemsworth added that Waititi’s humor was a welcome change in the franchise. Thor is known to be a pretty serious guy, but the upcoming Marvel movie managed to make him hilarious. “[It’s] the perfect mix for where this character needs to go,” said Hemsworth. “Different costumes, different weapons, different casts or characters to work on give you a different energy.”
Hemsworth also told Entertainment Weekly that he completely loved Thor’s new look in “Ragnarok,” simply because he did not have to wear a wig anymore.
“When I didn’t have the wig on, I instantly felt like I could move and speak and react differently. Once we aesthetically stripped a lot of that away, it allowed the whole thing to take on a different attitude. It felt like a completely different character, and that was hugely liberating and freeing as an actor because I had become a bit bored with myself,” he said.
Thor’s golden long locks were cut in the film after he was defeated by the new villainess Hela (Cate Blanchett). Because of her power, Thor would have to team up with his fellow Avenger, the Hulk (Mark Ruffalo), Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson), and his half-brother Loki (Tom Hiddleston).
“Thor: Ragnarok” will be released on Nov. 3.
