‘Thor: Ragnarok’ Star Tom Hiddleston Says Chris Hemsworth Is Funnier In Third Movie
“Thor: Ragnarok” is named after the Norse apocalypse, but the cast has made it clear that the Marvel film isn’t nearly as dark as it sounds. Tom Hiddleston teased that the film is filled with laughter.
During a Q&A session with Deadline, Hiddleston was asked about the action movie, in which he plays the evil Loki. The film star praised director Taika Waititi’s approach. “I think he’s capitalizing on Chris Hemsworth’s innate ability to be funny,” Hiddleston revealed.
Hemsworth, who plays the god of lightning, recently showed off his comedic chops in “Ghostbusters.” Hiddleston, however, noted that the Aussie actor has been funny all along. “I think he’s funny as Thor. There’s something so great in the first film when he walks into the pet store and says ‘I need a horse,’” Hiddleston reminisced.
But Thor isn’t the only one who will be making people laugh. Hiddleston teased that overall, there will be plenty of comedy. “There’s a lot of humor in this too, and also the fact that the Hulk [Mark Ruffalo] is in ‘Thor 3’ as well … You’ll have to wait and see, but the idea that Thor, Loki and the Hulk are sharing space, I think, is intrinsically funny,” he teased. “Tight spaces, both a little anxious about what’s going to happen.”
Hiddleston has been teasing the reunion of Loki and the Hulk for weeks. “Loki has a few thing to say about what happened last time with the Hulk,” Hiddleston revealed on the Happy Sad Confused podcast last month.
The last time the characters met, the Hulk defeated Loki by repeatedly slamming him into concrete as if he weighed nothing. It sounds like their next encounter will be even more entertaining.
Ruffalo hasn’t dropped any hints about his confrontation with Loki, but it seems like he spent plenty of time with Hemsworth while filming. He has also teased the lighthearted aspect of the film. “It’s an intergalactic buddy road movie with Banner and Thor,” Ruffalo told Entertainment Tonight in May.
“Thor: Ragnarok” is scheduled to hit theaters Nov. 3, 2017.
