Thousands Of Bees Escape Tractor Trailer Truck In New Jersey Before Beekeepers Arrive To Gather The Swarm
The buzz in Bernards Township in New Jersey Monday morning was that you could have gotten stung, perhaps numerous times, if you were anywhere around Interstate 287 northbound near Maple Avenue.
That’s because thousands of bees escaped from a tractor-trailer truck as it shifted its load and became disabled while exiting 287 onto Maple, according to NJ.com (The Star-Ledger).
Beekeepers arrived on the scene to help the truck driver get the bees back into the vehicle, said Police Lt. Michael Voorhees. He said the incident caused a backup on Route 287 going north as the truck partially blocked the exit ramp, Reuters reports.
