Tiger Woods Update: Golf Legend Prepares For 2022 PGA Championship After Masters Return
Tiger Woods is getting ready for the next major tournament. According to multiple reports, the golf legend has played a practice round at Oklahoma’s Southern Hills Golf Club, which will host the 2022 PGA Championship.
It doesn’t mean for certain that Woods will compete in the PGA Championship, but he appears to be considering the possibility. Woods took a similar route in preparing for the 2022 Masters, practicing at Augusta before making his return to the year’s first major.
The PGA Championship is scheduled to take place from May 19-22. Woods had previously indicated that he was unsure if he would compete.
Woods made his surprising return to the PGA Tour at the Masters, overcoming the odds to make the cut. Woods’ comeback came less than 14 months after a single-car accident forced him to undergo emergency surgery on his leg and threatened his golf career.
Woods finished in 47th place at the Masters at 13-over-par. The 46-year-old was 11-over-par in the final two rounds, admittedly battling pain in his injured leg as the tournament moved along.
Woods has committed to playing multiple golf events in July. The 15-time major winner will participate in Ireland’s JP McManus Pro-Am from July 4-5 before competing at the 2022 Open Championship on July 14.
It’s been 15 years since Woods was victorious at the PGA Championship. Woods won the championship in 1999 and 2000, and then again in 2006 and 2007.
